logo_bordeauxThe Terre Rosse vineyard has been in the Vallania family for generations, although it owes its current structure to the insight of Enrico Vallania who, after having inherited it from his father Eusebio, introduced innovative techniques of vine-growing and wine-making. His experiments and inquiring mind remain today a guiding spirit. The Terre Rosse domain is is located at 200 metres above sea level in a natural basin protected against the wind on the western hills of Bologna which is about 8 km away. Zola Predosa is named for the very special type of soil, consisting of clay veins which are particularly rich in lime and iron, the latter responsible for the red tones and the name “Terre Rosse”. These features, that is, the location and the soil, contribute to a unique microclimate and extremely favourable conditions for vine-growing.
